Designing the quilt is the most challenging aspect of making a T-Shirt Quilt. I've designed quilts with as few as 5 shirts and with as many as 67 shirts. The primary difference in the quilts that I make and those manufactured by large companies is that each quilt I complete is unique and individualized to your preferences.
During the initial consultation, we will discuss the size of the completed quilt and your color preferences. The average time period from the initial consultation and quilt completion is 4-6 weeks. During that time, we'll keep in touch regarding any questions and the progress being made.
A stabilizer will be used on the back of your shirts to keep them from stretching during the piecing and quilting process. A quilt design will be developed that best highlights your shirts and any decals. Instead of cutting each of your shirts into the same size squares, the squares will be cut to center the design in the quilt block. After the quilt top is completed, it will be sandwiched with 100% cotton Quilter's Dream batting and high quality 100% cotton quilt fabric. I will then machine quilt it.
The cost of the quilting process depends upon the number of shirts in your quilt and the completed size. A throw size quilt using 15-20 T-Shirts costs an average of $275.00. The price increases depending on size.
